I installed Windows 8 on my laptop yesterday, an upgrade from Win 7. The process went smoothly with no significant problems. I will write more about the process in an upcoming post. The main reason I upgraded was to make sure all of the Windows versions of PictoColor Software ran without a problem. The short answer is they do.
I first checked out the standalone apps, CorrectPhoto Editor and iCorrect EditLab ProApp 6.0, and they launched and functioned as expected. Next, using Photoshop CS5 (32 & 64 bit) I tested iCorrect OneClick 2.0 (only available at Amazon.com), iCorrect Portrait 2.0, and iCorrect EditLab Pro 6.0 plug-ins and they all worked as well.
Make sure you run the Windows 8-Upgrade Assistant application to check for any issues you may have before beginning the Win 8 installation. It is a good time to uninstall any applications that are not compatible or that you aren’t using anymore. Might as well do a little cleanup. The Win 8 installation process will preserve all of the compatible apps and files and move them to the new OS so you will be ready to go when the installation is complete. So far so good.

First Testimonial for iCorrect OneClick Color for iPad App

If you have don’t have an iPad but have an iPhone you can get iCorrect OneClick Color for iPhone in the App Store.
After posting the description about using iCorrect Portrait to color correct my new Facebook profile photo yesterday I decided to see how Photoshop Elements Auto Fix and PictoColor’s iCorrect OneClick compared with the iCorrect Portrait’s skin tone technology. “Was it really better?” Well, you be the judge. Click on the photo to get a larger view of the comparison image. The original photo (actually a cropped portion of a snapshot taken at my birthday party) is on the left. It is a bit dull and lifeless.
Photoshop Elements Auto Fix
The second image is the Photoshop elements Auto Fix (click on the Enhance and select AutoFix from the pull down menu). The result is certainly better but still is somewhat dull and has a yellowish color cast.
PictoColor’s iCorrect OneClick Plug-in
The next image is the result of using iCorrect OneClick plug-in. I selected OneClick from the Filters pull down menu and simply clicked on the white door frame. OneClick automatically analyzes brightness, contrast, and saturation and makes a best guess correction. The result is really much better, but still has a slight magenta tint and bit too much saturation. I think most people would be quite happy with the result from OneClick and it certainly is quick and, I think, more pleasing that the PSE Autofix. BTW, for a limited time you can get a free copy of the 32 bit version of iCorrect OneClick Plug-in.
PictoColor’s iCorrect Portrait Plug-in
The final photo is the result using iCorrect Portrait 2.0 plug-in. I selected iCorrect Portrait from the Filters pull down menu. Then check the Auto White and Auto Black boxes, click on the same white area on the door frame (the color balance tool is automatically activated). Finally, click on the Face icon to activate the skin tone memory color feature then click on an are of skin, such as my neck and chin. Yes, it took a couple more clicks, but the result is better skin tone, which is the real strength of iCorrect Portrait.
Our experience and the experience of our customers suggests that both iCorrect OneClick and iCorrect Portrait can improve the color of people photos much better than Photoshop’s Auto Fix and (if you know how to do it) much faster than using other PS tools. I typically use OneClick technology on most of my photos since I usually use CorrectPhoto instead of PS or PSE because it is easier and faster and includes OneClick. But, when I really want to make the skin look real (like in my Facebook profile) I use iCorrect Portrait.
